Welcome to year 4!

We are a class of amazing individuals who have a zest for life, work hard and have fun! We always aim to work together as a team and. listen to each others' ideas and always try our best. We love to challenge ourselves and try new things. Our motto is

'We are awesome!' 

We have lots of exciting activities planned and can’t wait to share our new learning, knowledge and skills with you. Please take a look at our upcoming class newsletters for more information on the activities we have planned. Don’t forget to keep checking the website page and facebook page to see pictures of all the wonderful things we do.

Our PE days are on Monday and Thursday this half term. Please make sure your child is wearing suitable clothing and shoes on these days. Children also need their hair tied up and any jewellery, including earrings are removed prior to coming into school on PE days.

In Year 4, there is a big focus on spelling. If you would like to practise them at home this website is very useful: https://www.spellzone.com/curriculum/national-curriculum/years-3-4.cfm

All children have a reading target sticker in their reading diaries, this will show their personal points target and the date it must be reached by. All children who reach thier personal target will take part in a reading treat at the end of every half term. There will be no aditional time allowed for pupils who have not reached thier personal target by the specified date. if you have difficulty accessing Accelerated reader at home, please let me know ASAP as additional time to complete a quiz can be given in school.

Homework is given out on a Thursday and needs to be returned to school by Tuesday at the latest. Please refer to the letter and activity menu in the front of your child’s homework folder for guidance on completing homework. 

Going on Times Table Rockstars regularly will really benefit children in YR4 as at the end of this academic year all children in YR4 will have to complete the statutory times table check.
