The Christening of Susanne Julia

Today, Rector Philip came in and performed a mock Christening for our baby doll. We had a mum and dad and then Godparents where chosen. We learnt why there are Godparents in a Christening ceremony and what their role is. Rector Philip talked about what he says and why he says it- what it means. Then baby Susanne had her head wetted by the 'holy water'. A candle was lit and we talked about the meaning of the light.

We all really enjoyed the experience and we all listened and joined in. Mrs Yarwood and Mrs Brown had brought in some things to look at from when they were christened. Afterwards, recpetion looked at how other religions celebrate and welcome the birth of baby into families.
