Reception class of 16- First day
Date: 7th Sep 2016 @ 12:04am
After the summer break, everyone seemed a mixture of nervous, excited and a little worried but everyone was so willing to come into the classroom and embark on their first day in Reception- and what a day it was! All the children were absolutely amazing... so settled, fantastic listening ears and great cooperation skills.
First we found out where our pegs were, where to put our book bags when we come in and how to tell Mrs Yarwood and Mrs Brown that we are present and self-register (we find our name and jump it into the pond). We then got to play inside and investigate all the areas in the classroom. We played with animals, building blocks, read stories, completed jigsaws and even practiced our writing!
We were very grown up and lined up and walked sensibly to the hall for Mrs Colman's assembly. We all set so smartly and listened carefully- Mrs Colman was very pleased with us.
Afterwards, we went outside to play in the EYFS area. We met the Nursery children and played together so nicely. We loved investigating all the new things outside. And tidying up... well, Mrs Yarwood was incredibly impressed.
After a busy morning, we got ready to go for lunch in the dinner hall. We had Year 6 buddies to help us get used to the routines of getting ou dinners. Then we had a little play on the big playground. It was lots of fun!
In the afternoon, we completed an activity with Mrs Yarwood and prepared a little something to take home. Lots of us giggled as we painted out hands to make hand prints.
We listened to a story Funny Fred, which was about a cat called Fred who was worried about going to school and we thought about how we could make him feel better. We were pleased that in the end of the story Fred managed to workout the right things to take to school.
By the end of the day we were all really tired after being so busy but we can't wait to come back and do it all again.
P.S We hope you all enjoyed our little keepsakes we brought home as a little reminder of our first day in Reception.
